What that means in practice

The tours listed here are sold by Viator and GetYourGuide. When you follow a link from one of these pages and go on to book, the platform pays us a share of its own commission. You pay the same fare either way; the price on the booking page is the operator's price, not a marked-up one.

What we are not

We are not a tour operator. We do not run any of these tours, employ any of these guides or hold your booking. Your contract is with the operator, through the platform.

We have no connection with any winery, cellar door, restaurant or visitor centre in the Clare Valley, or with any of the businesses these tours stop at.

How tours get listed

Operators cannot pay for placement, position or a badge. The badges are arithmetic: the best seller is the listing with the most reviews, the top-rated tour carries a 5.0, and the best value is the lowest per-person fare. One local operator sells the same shared day on both platforms, so both listings appear, because both are separately bookable.

The featured tours at the top of the homepage are three different ways into the valley — a shared day with the local guide from your valley stay, the one day that starts in Adelaide, and a private day for your group — each for a different kind of traveller.

Prices, ratings and how current they are

Prices, star ratings and review counts belong to the operators and were read from their own listings on 17 September 2026. They move, and the figure at checkout is the one that counts. Everything is quoted in US dollars because that is the currency the listings were captured in; nothing is converted at an exchange rate. Every fare is per person except the private day, which is sold per group of up to four.

Where we state a fact about the region, it comes from an official source: Clare Valley Tourism (clarevalley.com.au), the Clare Valley Wine & Grape Association (clarevalleywine.com.au), the South Australian Tourism Commission (southaustralia.com), the Bureau of Meteorology's Clare High School station (bom.gov.au), National Parks and Wildlife Service South Australia (parks.sa.gov.au), Sevenhill Cellars (sevenhill.com.au) and Visit Burra (visitburra.com.au). Where a detail comes from an operator's listing, such as a pickup time, a group size or a stop, it belongs to that tour.

Two official sources disagree on the drive from Adelaide: Clare Valley Tourism gives about 90 minutes and the South Australian Tourism Commission about two hours. We print both ends.

What we deliberately do not publish

• Tasting-fee amounts at individual cellar doors. They are set by each winery, no official source gives a region-wide figure, and every guided day here includes its scheduled tastings anyway.
• The coach timetable and fares. Clare Valley Tourism points travellers to Peninsula Coaches for them, and they change with the company's schedule.
• Cellar door hours, including Sevenhill Cellars', and the months of vintage, until each is read on an official page.
• Martindale Hall's opening status and hours, which no official source we could reach confirms.
